2016: the rabbit hole

Jon found bitcoin in 2016, back when explaining it at a job site got you laughed at. What hooked him wasn't the price — it was the idea underneath: ownership that doesn't depend on anyone's permission, built on rails no one can quietly bend.

2018: all in

By 2018 he'd left finish carpentry to work in blockchain full time — writing explainers, digging into new projects, and learning in public. His early pieces on the Gala Games node ecosystem and blockchain gaming were read by thousands of people trying to understand what "players actually own their stuff" could mean.

The 9 BTC lesson

The education was expensive. Jon lost 9 bitcoin to security mistakes nobody had warned him about — the exchanges, wallets, and recovery-phrase traps that caught thousands of early adopters. It's the most expensive lesson he's ever paid for, and it changed what he does with his time.
